Roberts Sant is a Swedish Singer-songwriter.
His music carrier started with two english alternative folk/country albums It’s just a lonely feeling (with cover art from Townes Van Zandt’s daughter Katie) and My Dead Town, which brought him to the rare opportunity to tour in the USA, Japan and the Nordic countries in his early carrier.
His deep lyrics came from the dark cutting place of despair, rage and wholesome hopelessness and the endless struggle to always feel like an outsider and not to fit in anywhere in this society and the drive to express them.
He was invited to spend some time in The house of songs in Austin TX where he co-wrote with some great songwriters and played some live shows. Short after that he was invited to Japan for a three week tour. When he got home he felt there was not much more to do, say or to prove…
He lost his father at an early age and lost his mother before the release of his first album and the sorrow finally cached up with him after all the touring and he fell into a darkness that took him years to recover from. After this he released some Swedish songs and a English EP but gradually felt he had said all he needed to say.
Putting the guitar on rest he wrote novels as his ongoing battle with manic depression continued. In the continuous search for timeless wisdom he spend some time studying religious science at the university with special interest in Exorcism. This took him on a spiritual path through christianity, studying the Bible and further on to the Runes and the wisdom and magic of the Norse traditions and walking the narrow path or the road through Taoism and further on. Now he paints the world with his own color.
Later he made the choice to move from the busy city life to a simple cabin in the woods to be closer to the spirits and for his mental wellbeing. He still lives there with his wife in solitude.
Robert Sant’s songwriting is constantly searching for those timeless melodies and the eternal questions we human have about life and the meaning of it all. The music he creates is his spiritual journey and vice versa. Now the songs comes to him from the trees and the rivers from the mountains and the wind from the earth and the lakes and from the whispering Spirits.
